A geodesic dome evokes lunar landscapes

Created by Xilografia, NABA’s project returns to the Courtyard of Honour at the University of Milan for the INTERNI Cre-Action exhibition-event, with an installation that envisions design in extraterrestrial contexts.

“Design for the Moon”

Created by Xilografia, the installation “Design for the Moon” brings life to the Courtyard of Honour at the University of Milan during Milan Design Week 2025. Curated by Claudio Larcher and Luca Poncellini with NABA and Arizona State University, the geodesic dome evokes lunar atmospheres. Sacco armchairs and 3D-printed tools by students transform the space into an extraterrestrial “living room.” Videos and space-architecture models explore sustainable living scenarios for the Moon’s future. A spray-art performance and a talk by astronaut Paolo Nespoli complete the experience, merging design, art and science.

“I am what I throw away”

The installation was realized as part of the INTERNI Cross Vision exhibition for the FuoriSalone in the Cortile d’Onore of the University of Milan. Inspired by the “Living structures” of American designer Ken Isaacs, based on matrices for building low-cost living structures with minimal environmental impact, “I am what I throw away” reinterprets the concept of matrix in architecture using reclaimed materials, combining craftsmanship with industrial experimentation.
